We had 11 students competing in the Midlands Championships in Kettering on 22nd January.
The event was very well attended with students competing from all over the country.
Rachel Foster: Blue belt heavyweight sparring and patterns
Nicky Head: Red belt Middleweight sparring and patterns.
Emma Tyrrell: Yellow belt lightweight sparring and Patterns,
Olivia Bignall: Yellow belt Patterns.
Cerys O’Connor: Black belt Middleweight sparring and patterns.
Kiera O’Connor: Black belt Middleweight sparring and patterns.
Suliman Khan: Blue belt lightweight sparring and patterns.
George Bignall Yellow belt patterns.
Josh Deller Green belt middleweight sparring.
Paul Richards: Yellow belt Heavyweight sparring.
Peter Slomczynski : Yellow belt heavyweight sparring and patterns.
We sent a largely inexperienced team with over half of our students green belt or below.
Peter in his first ever competition had 3 fights and finished up winning bronze. Emma succeeded in her goal of bringing back an individual medal with another bronze in girls yellow belt sparring and a further bronze in the team sparring.
Nicky head became Ladies Red belt patterns champion with a gold in patterns and also won a Bronze in sparring.
Rachel won Bronze in Ladies sparring and Gold in the team sparring event
Suli finished off our haul of medals with another bronze in the boys team sparring.
A great start to the year for Bishops Stortford & Epping Taekwon-do
as our clubs grow from strength to strength.
